Spanish and Mandarin classes at Yak Academy

Postby J&D's Mom on Sun Feb 26, 2012 6:19 pm

Are you looking for a way to expose your child to foreign language classes? Yak Academy of South Denver offers both Spanish and Mandarin immersion classes for ages 1 -10 (grouped by age of course). My 5 yr old son is very verbal and I wanted to expose him to a foreign language at a young age. We were so fortunate to find Yak Academy nearby. My son has been in an immersion Spanish class for 3-5 year olds for 5 months now and he absolutely loves it. At first, I thought perhaps a 75 minute class would be too long for that age group. But the kids don't feel like they are in "class" at all...they are just having fun.

The classes are include games, crafts and snacktime; all incorporating the language. The classes have a set curriculum with a theme for each 3 week period and a presentation at the end of the unit. It has been so awesome to hear my son using some of the Spanish words and phrases that he has picked up from the classes. The Halloween and the family unit were a big hit with my son. The teachers are all great with the kids and many are native speakers.

Yak Academy currently offers the following classes/times but depending on demand more classes could open or times could change. The summer session with starts June 11.
