What's the going rate?

Postby AMJNBJ on Wed Aug 20, 2008 3:11 pm

Have you wondered what the going rate is for most kid-related expenses? A recent Parents magazine survey found the typical costs:

A lost tooth -- $1 for a missing molar

Allowance -- Between 50 cents and $1 per week for each year of a child's age.

Party present -- Most parents report spending an average of $15 for a present for a preschooler. What about those gastly party gift bags???

A gift card for a teacher -- No consensus. Parents magazine's advice - ten bucks for Starbucks? Great. Or $20 for a bookstore.

Babysitting -- Rates range from $8 to $10 an hour.

Hope this gives you a good starting point! 8-)
