My boys have a storybook about Flat Stanley and my older one has even done a Flat Stanley project in school. So when I saw that the Arvada Center was doing a musical of the story; I knew we had to get tickets.
For those that aren't familiar, here is a short summary of the story the musical is based on:
Ordinary kid, Stanley Lambchop is asleep in his bed one night when a bulletin board falls on him. The next morning he wakes up flat. At first, being flat is not so bad. He can slide under locked doors. His friends fly him like a kite. Stanley is the best in his class at hide-and-seek. If he has to be flat, he is going to make the best of it. Stanley decides to put himself in a big envelope and travel the world as a human letter. The musical follows his adventures as he strives to become three dimensional again.
We have gone to previous children's productions at the Arvada Center and have always had a great time. There honestly isn't a bad seat in the theatre and it is such a neat place for kids to see a show on their level. This time my almost 5 year old son, his best friend and best friend's mom and myself made the journey up north to see the show. A nice bonus for folks that have a bit of a drive is the fabulous park outside of the Arvada Center. It was nice to let the boys burn off some energy outside before we went in to take our seats for the show.
The show was wonderful and the boys had an absolute blast listening to the show and seeing "Flat Stanley". My son loves music and even sang along with the show a bit and no one minded a bit. I don't want to give away the whole show but I will say that the boys were mesmerized and we all enjoyed it so much that the ending came way to soon.
The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley is playing through April 16th. Get your tickets and take your kids. General Admission tickets are only $8. What a bargain! Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley ticket are available here http://arvadacenter.org/on-stage/the-musical-adventures-of-flat-stanley.
