Splitz Bowling Center

We were "bowled over" by Splitz!

Trying to eek the last few minutes out of summer vacation, my husband and I decided to take the kids to Splitz for a little bowling. To be perfectly honest, I'm not such a fan of bowling to begin with. The loud, crowded atmosphere, stinky borrowed shoes, and let's not forget that I can't break 100 (even with bumpers...). So when my husband told me that Splitz was in Westminster and that it was a decent hike from our home in Highlands Ranch, let's just say I was less than enthused. After thinking it through for a whole 10 seconds, I said "what the heck" and off we went.

I think my attitude changed as soon as we walked in the door. Where were the yelling leagues and blasting music? I mean, this place was shiny and clean! Even the video games were good looking. That's saying something ;). When the lot of us approached the desk, the manager on duty was super friendly and explained how pizza bowl works. We were able to use a lane for 2 hours (from our first roll of the ball), use house shoes (which were not all that stinky), get a large, one-topping pizza and a pitcher of soda for about $65.00. Plus, you get free socks! Ok, so that may not be quite worthy of the exclamation point, but hey - they were nice socks with little bowling pins on them. And they were free. Not bad, considering there are five kids and two adults.

The lane was set-up so that my littlest kids could use bumpers to help them bowl while the rest of us chose to fend for ourselves. I should have opted for bumpers, but that's besides the point. We were given a server to take our pizza and drink order and we also decided to try out some ultimate nachos from the menu. My kids had just as much fun sitting at the table with the cool chairs as they did bowling. I won't try to explain the tables - let's just say that the seats swing back and forth and have swivel capability. Safe, but amusing for some. As we bowled, the screen would give us tips on how to improve our chances (like by using bumpers...) and show cartoon-styled snippets after each person finished. I always seemed to get the one where the mummy became unraveled. I wonder why.

We had a great time at Splitz and plan to take the trip back again soon. The pizza special is available everyday with varying times and it's a little more expensive during peak weekend hours. For about ten dollars less, you can choose to not get a pizza and get popcorn instead on Monday through Thursday. This really is a nice place with a friendly staff. It's family friendly, clean, and tons of fun. I feel like Splitz has taken bowling to a new, happier place. Oh, and we could all hear each other just fine :D.

I have to agree that Splitz is hands down the cleanest and nicest bowling alley I have ever been to. We were really impressed by the very friendly staff (who came by to check on us several times to see if we needed anything) and by the nice selection of video games and vending machines, plus a great menu with tons of options including healthy dishes like salads and wraps.

The atmosphere was very party-like for a Saturday afternoon, with dance music, glowing pins and, of course, a smoke machine. We loved that the staff set our lane up so the bumpers would automatically come up for my son's turn and go back down for my husband and I to embarrass ourselves. The tables are an amusement all in themselves with special swivelly chairs and the tables are staggered in such a way that you feel like you have your own space.

We had a fantastic experience at Splitz and saw several birthday parties in full swing. This is definitely a place to bring the whole family and they have a lot of special deals and food combo packages to choose from.

We ventured out on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon for some bowling. My husband and I had visions of our last time bowling -- probably before we had kids -- or even knew each other - and I must admit - probably not overly excited. Our two year old was screaming "Me bowl!" then entire ride to the Westminster location - he WAS excited. Our 4 and 9 year olds were ready to whip some parental booty.
We were pleasantly surprised that it was nothing like the dingy lanes we grew up with back East. This was snazy! This was clean! This was smoke free! We snagged our sporty bowling shoes - the younger ones were excited thinking they could keep them -- and off to our lane.

Unlike the old days - the staff already had our names input to the overhead scoring system. We were able to set up the bumpers for the kids - and show our real skills without bumpers (and only 2 gutterballs between us!). Everything was automatic -- very nice -- scoring, bumpers up/down -- nothing but concentrating on our next roll down the lane and where to direct the ball thanks to the overhead coaching/video! Sweet! Bummer we didn't figure that out til the 2nd game.

We had the family pack - which included two hours of bowling, big bucket of popcorn and a pitcher of lemonade. We ordered a large pizza too - tasty! Again - not like the old days! Resonable prices and a fun afternoon -- nothing like a 2 year old getting a higher score than his mom!

My family and I recently enjoyed an outing at Splitz! It really is a great, fun place for everyone. What's more, the clean, smoke-free environment is a huge plus for the allergy sufferes my family. We love that the scoring is completely automated and that our names (in the correct order-very important!) were already loaded into the system and ready to go by the time we arrived at the lane. We bowled the Family Special which included 2 hours of bowling, a large popcorn and pitcher of soda, which was promptly brought to us by our lane attendant. My husband and I didn't use bumpers (but should have), however, our 6 year old boys most definitely needed them! We were also grateful that our very friendly (and patient) attendant added and removed bumpers for the 10 year old girls who continually changed their minds. We all highly recommend Splitz!!
