Folk music and dancing for kids ages 6-12! We will be teaching kids how to play the music of the dances they learn. We welcome all levels of musicians from no experience to advanced players! We teach folk music by ear through singing, percussion, ukuleles, violins, recorders, and any other instrument they would like to play!
We meet on the Second Saturday of every month, starting August 11th from 2-4pm.

SPREE= South Platte River Environmental Education
SPREE Holiday camps are fun and educational days filled with games, crafts, adventures and even top secret missions about the environment! SPREE offers school holiday camps for students Kindergarten (must be at least 6)-5th grade at SPREE Headquarters from 8AM to 6PM. The daily schedule will be as follows:
8AM - 9AM: Flexible drop-off time, free explore and craft time
9AM - 3PM: Planned educational activities and adventures by the river
3PM - 4:30PM: Flexible pick-up time, free explore and craft time
4:30PM - 6:00PM: Aftercare, flexible pick-up time, free explore and craft time ($6/child/day)
Be sure to pack your camper with a water and a full lunch + 2 snacks. Pack sunscreen, water shoes, and any clothing that they need to spend a majority of the day outside.
Cost: $50/day + optional after-care cost of $6/day
Campers can attend one or both days.

Each camp offers exploration of the Dinosaur Ridge fossil sites, hands-on science projects, as well as expert guest presenters in the fields of paleontology, geology, art, earth science, survival skills, and local plants and animals. FOSSILS & FUN (Ages 6-10)
Fossils and Fun is a hands-on, creative journey into our local rich natural history, animals, and resources. Daily science activities, crafts and investigations lead campers to great discovery at our outdoor museum and beyond! Campers will journey to local fossil sites to see and touch real dinosaur bones and tracks, create and take home fossil replicas, and participate in a sand castle challenge simulating geologic processes. Field Trips may include Bear Creek Lake Park, Matthews Winters Park, Red Rocks Park, and more! This camp is the perfect opportunity for future paleontologists, outdoor enthusiasts, and dinosaur lovers to do science in a whole new way. This camp is recommended for children that have finished kindergarten through those going into fifth grade, or 6 to 10 years of age.
NATURE TREKKERS (Ages 6-10)
Trekkers will engage their adventurous spirits as they learn outdoor skills and exciting ways to thrive in nature. Campers will hike through the pines of Lookout Mountain, explore the rivers of Morrison, and learn how to make a survival kit and build a shelter. Nature Trekkers will discover the outdoor skills geologists, paleontologists, and naturalists need to fully explore our unique backyard, such as map and compass skills and wildlife and plant identification. Field trips may include Lookout Mountain Nature Center, Idaho Springs, Triceratops Trail fossil sites, and more! Prepare to see the outdoors in a whole new light! This camp is recommended for children that have finished kindergarten through those going into fifth grade, or 6 to 10 years of age.
JUNIOR SCIENTISTS (Ages 8-11)
Calling all junior scientists! Full steam ahead for this awesome inquiry-based science camp! Campers will explore many different branches of science such as studying fossils using paleontology and geology, tinkering and experimenting with chemistry and physics, and learning about the sun, planets and stars using astronomy! Be prepared to create edible crystals, build erupting volcanoes, and see local animals. Field trips may include the Denver Museum of Nature and science, Robert H. Johnson Planetarium, School of Mines Geology Museum, and more! This camp is for every kid who dreams of telescopes, fossil digs, contraptions, and messy science all in one amazing week! This camp is recommended for children that have finished 2nd grade through those going into 6th grade, or 8 to 11 years of age.
ROCK STARS (Ages 10-13)
Advanced Campers with a passion for hands-on earth science will love this camp's in-depth focus on all things Paleontology and Geology. From the dawn of the planet to today's modern environments, campers will explore, observe, map, draw, and measure fossils and rock layers from Dinosaur Ridge to Idaho Springs. See where glaciers shaped our Front Range, touch dinosaur bones and tracks, and explore natural resources through games and experiments. This is an engaging week of fossil collection, paleo-art, and outdoor leadership. Field trips may include the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, School of Mines Geology Museum, Morrison Natural History Museum, American Mountaineering Museum, and an outdoor community service project! This camp is recommended for children that have finished 4th grade through those going into 8th grade, or 10 to 13 years of age.
STEAM WEEK [NEW!!] (Ages 8-11)
We know your kiddo loves science, and in this week they can do a deep dive into the technology, math, art, and engineering behind those sciences! Learn how geological engineers build machines to test for earthquakes. Explore not only what the pyramids are made of, but how they could have been constructed. Explore local Colorado vistas and learn to capture that beauty with a lesson in photography. Explore the math that ties together sciences such as geochemistry by exploring how geologists date elements in rocks to know the age of the Earth. Daily projects and amazing field trips will foster excitement, wonder, and curiosity. Hands-on games, activities, and fun await your camper during STEAM week! This camp is recommended for children that have finished 2nd grade through those going into 6th grade, or 8 to 11 years of age.

Mindfulness helps us to connect with our own inner peace, and how to recognize and stop when negative minds are brewing. In this series, kids will learn how to meditate, increase positive minds, and improve their concentration and mindfulness.
For kids ages 5 and up. Adults are welcome to join the kids' class or relax in the adult meditation class. All classes are stand alone topics and everyone is welcome. Classes consist of a short meditation, a discussion and crafts or a game.
