Medieval Times, Baltimore Castle is located in Central Maryland, in Arundle Mills Mall. With a location close to Baltimore and Washington D.C it welcomes guests from all over. This dinner and show is perfect for kids of all ages, or kids at heart. Take a look with me and explore all of the fun that awaits you at the Castle.
The Castle doors open 75 minutes prior to show-time, be sure to leave time for yourself to enjoy the Queens Hall before going into the show. Here you can buy a souvenir, meet the Royal Falconer and other members of the Queens Court. The Queen may even call you to be Knighted into her court, if you happen to be celebrating at her castle.
Speaking of celebrations, did you know that you can celebrate special events at Medieval Times? We were celebrating my daughters birthday with my Mom and nephews. To treat her, we upgraded to the Royalty package, which included VIP seating, cheering banner and VIP Lanyard. She didn’t want to be embarrassed so we opted to not have her name and birthday celebration called out in the middle of the tournament. But you can do that for an additional $10 fee.
Once inside the castle, you are sorted into a team and given a colored crown. Six Knights compete during the Battle of Champions and you will be cheering for one of them as you witness epic battles of steel and steed. We had the honor of cheering on the Yellow Knight during our visit. How did he fare in the tournament? Well I guess you have to keep reading!
About 15 minutes into the show, her Majesty’s royal feast begins. Oh and did I mention you’ll be using your hands to eat? You are first served a delicious tomato bisque soup with garlic bread for dipping. The main course is oven roasted chicken, corn on the cob and roasted potatoes. The portions are large, to say the least, and you may need a take home bag at the end. My four year old nephew was so immersed in the show, he barely touched his meal.
As dinner begins the Royal Falconer shares the flight of the royal falcon, soaring over the heads of the tournament guests. The kingdom is also home to a prized collection of Spanish Stallions that are high-spirited, courageous and tempered for battle. The kingdoms Master of Horse, presented several dazzling displays of horsemanship.
Once the Battle of Champions begins, be ready to cheer on your Knight. A competition that can be seen nowhere else begins with jousting, ring catching and much more. My four-year old nephew cheered all the way until the end for the yellow Knight! He proudly waved his flag during the entire tournament, we have never seen him so intent.
Once our Knight was in the final contention for tournament champion, his cheers became louder! Sadly, the yellow Knight was not the champion of the tournament, but he fought well for Her Majesty, Queen Marla Isabella.
Adult tickets are $61.95, children under 12 are $31.95 and children under the age of 3 are free (must sit on lap/share seat). Showtimes are Friday, Saturday and Sunday with 4 pm, 7 pm shows. There are a few 1 pm shows, be sure to check the website for those events.
If you are celebrating a special event, you can upgrade your package for a few dollars more per person.
