If you are planning on heading to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida anytime this summer, you have to add the Everglades Holiday Park to your list of activities.  Everglades Holiday Park is the home of the World Famous Gator Boys which you may know from their show on Animal Planet.

My family and I visited Everglades Holiday Park last month and loved it!  We went on their exciting airboat tour and we all had such a great time.  My little guy especially liked when the airboat went fast over the water.  My older son kept a sharp lookout for alligators while we airboated through the Everglades, finally spotting one!  We saw all sorts birds, fish, alligators and other wildlife.

The tour was family friendly for kids of all ages.  My mom and dad came along – free baby sitters for later in the trip  – and everyone from our 1 year old to grandpa had a blast.

The tour began with a good safety briefing which my pilot hubby appreciated!  I loved that the airboat was covered so we didn’t have to worry about getting a sunburn.  The airboat ride lasted almost an hour and we were very thankful for the shade.  During the tour, the guide pointed out the flora and fauna of the Everglades, and a quick eye can spot even more animals.  Hubby was freaking out at the size of some of the fish cruising around in the shallow waters.

The critter spotting was fun, but I am pretty sure the boys loved the speed boat aspect the best!  Just be sure not to set your bags on the floor or they will get wet when the boat slows back down!  We learned that the hard way.  LOL!

After the airboat ride, we went to see more alligators at the Gator Boys show.  We were up close and personal with some of the largest alligators I had ever seen.  The show was entertaining and informative… and a bit scary at times.  I mean there is a guy in the cage with a real live (and very large) alligator.

After the show, my husband and son were able to hold a little alligator and get a picture taken.  It was the highlight of their vacation.
