"Really, really and truly mom?" Yes really and truly, we are going to the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker this weekend. We talked about it all week long. My 10 year old wondering what should she wear, what it would be like. Would she be bored? After all there's not talking it is just music and ballet. It's her first experience and I'm enjoying seeing her eyes light up with excitement and she was ready before I was!
We arrive at the Dunham Theater and mom and dad were thrilled that we didn't have to pay for parking. This evening was dedicated to Human Trafficking Awareness and before, during intermission, and after the ballet you could purchase candles created by survivors of human trafficking in order to support their recovery and rehabilitation organization.
We were in the balcony, and I do wish we had stage seats for her first time at the ballet, but my daughter didn't seem to mind. She looked around wide eyed and ready for the magic to begin. The music started for the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker and she looked at me as the dancers took the stage in excitement. She whispers, "I know this music!" During this scene she says 'Mom it's just like the book and the movie, I know exactly what's happening even without words."
