Colorado Bluebird Project
Improving bluebird populations
The Colorado Bluebird Project operates under the guidance of the Audubon Society of Greater Denver and is offered through POST Partners in Castle Rock. This volunteer-run project aims to improve the vitality of bluebird populations throughout Colorado and to inform and educate the public about bluebirds. For more information, see the project overview sheet.
Volunteers of all ages are needed to assist with monitoring of the nest boxes from April through August. Additionally, volunteers are needed to help with nest box construction and repair of older nest boxes. Wondering what to expect as a volunteer? Check out this slideshow featuring photos provided by our volunteers from this past season.
Educational Presentations
Natural Resource Specialist, Barbara Spagnuolo, conducts two education presentations in late winter to prepare residents for the start of the Colorado Bluebird Project season. Learn about the program and how you can help bluebirds in Castle Rock or in your own backyard at the open house with comprehensive monitoring training offered separately.

2019 Season Information
The 2019 season will start soon and we will need volunteers to monitor all our our sites. If you are interested in learning more about the Colorado Bluebird Project or volunteering to be a nest-box monitor in 2019, please fill out a CO Bluebird Project Volunteer Interest Form to get on our email notification list.
To apply to participate and volunteer in the Bluebird Program,
complete the Individual Volunteer Application and Volunteer Waiver Form, and submit both forms to the POST Partners Volunteer Program Coordinator by EMAIL.
Feel free to download our Colorado Bluebird Project Volunteer Training Manual as a reference for either your backyard monitoring or as one of our nest-box monitoring volunteers. We encourage those installing nest boxes in their own yards to follow these guidelines.
